This week I am continuing to share on the theme of establishing safety in your nervous system through turning attention now to your life circumstances and implementing a sense of agency. Once basic orientation is established, and once we feel centered and safe within ourselves in our relationship to ourselves, we can then clearly discern what does or does not align with our nervous system needs in our various life environments, from our living space to our relational spaces, to even our larger cultural ecosystems. Nervous system freeze can present as either feeling like a wallflower, powerless to make changes in our lives, or it can present as a kind of rigidity and extreme need to control everything (which also stems from feeling powerless). We get to align with the part of ourselves that can observe and discern what truly settles us and feels "just right" (the Goldilocks zone) and to move toward it, and away from what does not feel well. This capacity to move toward and away is NOT freeze; it is agency, and it is powerfully liberating to allow ourselves to practice this. Here's the video lesson: Comments are closed.
