"Just as the waters of the great oceans all have one taste, the taste of salt,
so too, all true teachings have but one taste, the taste of liberation."

How Are You Sleeping?

How are you sleeping lately?

I took sleep for granted for most of my life and found it easy to fall asleep no matter where I was, even in my 20's while traveling through airports, when I could fall asleep on the floor with folks bustling about around me. I also stayed up late often, taking advantage of the quiet dark hours to unburden myself creatively and savor the feeling of having time for myself. But all of that crashed
after my vaccine injury, when the most intense inflammatory symptoms reared their heads at night, disrupting my capacity for sleep to the point that the very act of rest became a trigger for severe PTSD and panic attacks. I would crawl into bed exhausted each night and longing for sleep, only to be hit with a wave of pure panic as I anticipated surviving another night of inflammatory surges, autoimmune seizures, temperature flushes, nerve pain, and the dreaded sense of being unable to breathe.

The road to reclaiming my sleep has been long and arduous, and has required a discipline I never learned to cultivate growing up, including saying "no" to things that were tempting but ultimately did not help my nervous system let down into the level of luscious surrender required to truly reset each night and give my body the space to clear massive loads of toxins from my tissues. But I am proud to say that with devotion, profound care, and deep perseverance, I now sleep deeply night upon night and wake without an alarm every morning around dawn, with no need for caffeine to begin my day feeling renewed.

Sleep is the foundation of health. Without it we would be incapable of anything. What occurs in the universe of our brilliant human design during sleep is on par with stars being born from supernova! It's the time when the deepest and most profound healing and transformation occurs, because we are fully surrendered to higher processes in sleep.

Modern culture has crept further and further into this sacred territory with the advent of electricity and schedules that take our time and attention away from rest and self-reflection such that many people are still completing the day's tasks into the late hours of the day or are craving that longed for solitude or relaxation time with loved ones that they didn't allow themselves to have earlier in the day. So, the choice to prioritize sleep is also the choice to prioritize life, from the ground up.

Here's this week's video with a couple of tips for protecting your sleep:
